The B.C. government has announced additional funding for search and rescue groups.
Through the budget of 2020, the government is committing $6 million a year beginning in 2022-2023. This funding will help support B.C.’s 2,500 ground search and rescue volunteers. Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General is asking British Columbians to do their part in supporting search and rescue crews by staying safe outdoors.
Since January of this year search and rescue crews have responded to more than 700 calls throughout the province.
