Funding has been announced to help strengthen anti-hate and anti-racism supports in the north.
There are nine new organizations offering Resilience B.C. services in the northern region. Under the Resilience B.C. program 34 organizations were selected to provide services in 40 communities. All the organizations that were chosen show a strong understanding of racism and hate issues. They also have a defined course of action they will be taking at the regional level.
Anne Kang, Minister of Citizens Services and responsible for Multiculturalism says, “These community organizations will lead action at a local and regional level to respond to and prevent racist and hate activity.”
The nine organizations will be receiving a total of $75,000 in funding. The organizations receiving the money include, Dawson Creek Literacy Society, Houston Link to Learning Society, Immigrant Multicultural Services Society of Prince George, North Coast Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society, Saulteau First Nation, Skeena Diversity Society, The Tamitik Status of Women Association, Smithers Social Planning Society and Nechako Healthy Community Alliance.
Most recently Resilience B.C. has launched an online portal for those that experience or witness a racist incident.
