B.C. has unveiled its plan to support students for getting back to school in this upcoming term.
Enhanced safety measures and additional resources will help K to 12 students return to classrooms on Sept. 8. This will be full-time learning in a classroom as B.C. moves into stage 2 of its back to school plan. In the beginning there was only remote learning, then that transitioned to remote with some exceptions then it was a mixture of in-class and remote.
With advice from the Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry students will be organized into learning groups, this will be a consistent group of staff and students. This will reduce the number of people that students and teachers come into contact with on a daily basis.
All boards of education and independent school authorities will still be required to implement health and safety measures to reduce the risk of transmission of Covid-19. To support this move to back-to-school a one-time investment of $45.6 million is being made as part of the B.C. Covid-19 Action Plan. The investment will ensure increased cleaning of high touch surfaces and also increase the availability of masks and sanitizing stations.
