John Sabourin is another of the 12 Decho First Nation members who set out on a moose hide boat on the Nahanni River, which was filmed and made into a documentary called, “Nahanni: River of Forgiveness.”
John talks about his journey to becoming an artist, and describes his art as contemporary Indigenous artistry. He carves stone and uses acrylics as his mediums, and has been drawing since he was a child. If you’d like to check out his work, visit johnsabourin.com
Sabourin also describes how he developed unique and life-lasting friendships with others who were fortunate enough to take the trip with him.
