Some important news has come out for the Haisla Nation membership as construction of a new 23-unit apartment complex will begin this August.
The on-reserve apartment is being built by contractor Yellowridge. The original complex was started in 2014, which was before a positive final investment decision made by LNG Canada. The Haisla Nation Council is working with B.C. Housing to fund a portion of the apartment complex. This will be the first time the provincial government has funded an on-reserve apartment building.
M’akola Development Services is partnering with the Haisla Nation, they specialize in project development and property management services. The service has completed projects of this magnitude and built community capacity by training First Nations on property management.
