On Tuesday a memorial totem pole was raised in Prince Rupert.
The totem pole was the first to be raised in the city in more than 30 years. The pole was created as a way for Lyle Campbell, lead carver on the project to honour his late mother, Alice Campbell.
Campbell said that the pole took about 4 months of condensed carving time to make.
He goes on to say that he was very grateful for all the people that gave their time to create the pole as there was no major funding for the carving. Money was raised from a Gofundme page along with masks being sold to help compensate carvers and pay for the equipment to raise the pole.
