Northern Health’s Chief Medical Officer has declared an end to an outbreak on Haida Gwaii.
The outbreak was first reported on July 24, and the last of the reported cases came on Aug. 6. Since then, there have been no new cases and there are no active cases. Public health officials are now confident that there are no further chains of transmission of Covid-19.
Northern Health and the First Nations Health Authority have worked closely with the Council of the Haida Nation and municipal governments to ensure a coordinated response. Northern Health also reports that none of the 26 confirmed cases required hospitalization or relocation.
While all outbreak related cases have recovered or completed self-isolation, there may be others self-isolating for a variety of reasons.
