B.C.’s Liberal Party has announced Roy Jones Jr. as their candidate for the North Coast.
Jones brings experience as a Haida Hereditary Chief on Haida Gwaii, as well as the owner of Aboriginal Equity Partners Incorporated, and as an Executive Board Member of the National Coalition of Chiefs. He has also worked to reduce poverty and improve quality of life of residents on the North Coast.
Jones said in a statement, “Throughout my life, I’ve seen the decline in industrial opportunities on the north coast, with the biggest decline in the fishing industry, and its effect on the coastal communities.”
He is also the first Indigenous candidate for a major political party in a provincial election on the North Coast.
