Terrace RCMP received a report on Oct. 13 of explosive material by the Thornhill Fire Department.
The report stated that there were fuses, detonation cords and possible nitroglycerine located by homeowner in a shed in Thornhill, B.C. The explosive materials were discovered after a shed was cleared out and the objects placed outside in the yard. The Explosives Destruction Unit was contacted and was dispatched to assist.
The surrounding properties were notified and police secured the area. The decision was made not to move the items upon their arrival, due to their volatility of the material. The surrounding residences were evacuated and BC Hydro, the Fire Department and Emergency Health Services were notified.
