In this episode, we’re speaking with Zach Melnick and Yvonne Drebert, the creators of an educational docu-series dedicated to highlighting Canada’s UNESCO designated biospheres, called “Striking Balance”.
In the recently launched 2nd season, available on TVO’s Youtube Channel, you’ll see the first, the largest, and only biosphere in the world, created and maintained by an Indigenous community.
The Sahtu Dene are the stewards of the Tsá Tué Biosphere Reserve, or Great Bear Lake in the Northwest Territories, and have been working to preserve their land for decades.
Not only will we hear about the creation of “Striking Balance”, but we’ll also be joined by Michael Neyelle, one of the people featured prominently in the episode, from the Deline First Nation, and chair of the Sahtu Renewable Resources Board.
