Born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, country musician Donny Parenteau has travelled the world performing for thousands and thousands of people with a fiddle in his hand.
With goals of the Grand Ol’ Opry in his sights, in the 90s he lived that dream, alongside country music superstar, Neal McCoy, and has since seen success as an award winning solo artist. With many CCMA, Juno and Canadian Aboriginal Music award nominations to his name, Parenteau continues to pursue his passion, making and releasing music, including a recently released single, “Bring it On” featuring Brad Johner.
He’s also got his own music school, which he has expanded online with virtual lessons since the pandemic hit.
In our interview, Donny will tell us about his days on stage in front of 89,000 people at the Alabama June Jam in the heyday of 90s Country Music with bandmate Neal McCoy, why he decided to set out on his own musical adventure, and how his legacy and love of music lives on in his daughter.
