There are many Indigenous languages across North America that have almost been completely lost due to colonialism, but one man is hoping to help keep the Carrier Language alive through his work.
Linguist, and MIT and Harvard Alum, Dr. Bill Poser moved to Prince George about 30 years ago to study Carrier, and has been working to document it ever since.
In this show, Dr. Poser will discuss the process of studying Linguistics, and what drew him to dedicating his life to this ancient and important language of Northern BC in the first place.
He’ll also share a bit about his newly published book of Carrier Baby Names, produced in partnership with Carrier Sekani Family Services.
