The Nisga’a Lisims Government Executive has declared a state of emergency as Covid-19 cases in the area rise.
The decision was made following a meeting of the NLG Executive and the decision to declare the State of Local Emergency was unanimous. It will be in effect from Tuesday, January 12 to Tuesday January 19.
The State of Local Emergency means that travel to and from each Nisga’a Village is prohibited. There will be no gatherings or events and masks are mandatory. Anyone who does not follow these rules may be subject to a fine.
Since December 28, there have been 68 positive Covid-19 cases.
