Northern Health has issued an alert as street drugs in the region may be contaminated with Benzodiazepines more commonly known as Benzos.
The contaminated drugs continue to circulate in the north. Northern Health along with the First Nations Health Authority are urging residents using or considering using drugs to reconsider or take steps to prevent overdose.
Benzos are a type of medication that slows brain activity. When mixed with opioids there is a high risk of overdose. If you suspect someone is overdosing it’s important to, call 9-1-1, open the airway and give rescue breaths and administer Naloxone if you have it.
