The new appointment makes Bachrach the party’s leading voice in the House of commons on transportation-related issues across Canada.
Federal assistance for airlines was highlighted as a priority in the supplementary mandate letter issued last week. Bachrach underlined that any such federal assistance must come with conditions.
Bachrach is already a member of the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and
Communities and has been actively working for the past year on a number of pressing transport files.
Bachrach intends to focus on the Coastal Oiler Tanker moratorium, improving rail safety and reducing climate pollution from the transportation sector in his new role.
