It is divided into four steps with phase one having begun in December. Phase one, staff, residents and essential visitors are being vaccinated in long-term care or assisted living facility. Along with hospital health care workers and remote and isolated Indigenous communities.
In phase 2 Seniors and Indigenous communities not yet immunized will be receiving the vaccine. Along with hospital staff, community GPs and medical specialists that hadn’t previously been vaccinated. Included in phase 2 are vulnerable populations and staff in community home support and nursing services for seniors.
Phase 3, which is set to begin in April and go until June will see people aged 79 to 60 vaccinated as the vaccine enters the general population. Phase 4 beginning in July and ending in September will see the rest of the population immunized.
The timeline for the immunization plan may change based on vaccine availability.
