Skeena-Bulkey Valley MP Taylor Bachrach hosted a virtual town hall on Tuesday to discuss the upcoming vote on Conservative Bill C-229.
The bill would repeal the North Coast Oil Tanker Moratorium. The town hall saw over 100 residents from across the region joining the call. Guest speakers Marilyn Slett, Heiltsuk Tribal Council Chief Councillor, and Joy Thorkelson, President of the United Fisherman and Allied Workers Union, shared why protecting the coast from oil tankers is so important.
Debate over the bill will wrap up this week with a vote likely to happen next week.
