Crews are still on scene after the Kispiox Bridge sustained some damage yesterday.
A snow plow clipped several of the wood bridge’s vertical support structures with a wing blade causing structural damage. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure bridge engineers continue to assess the bridge after arriving yesterday.
Currently, crews are working to open Mitten FSR as a detour route. Dawson Road Maintenance’s grader started from the Highway 37 side and had cleared about five kilometres as of 7 a.m. this morning. The Kispiox Band sent a grader in to the road from their side. An update will be coming as to how far they have progressed.
Crews are working around the clock to open the Mitten up. There is not time for opening as there is a significant amount of work to do. Information will be provided through Dawson Road Maintenance’s Social Media as well as DriveBC.
