Terrace RCMP responded to a report of an assault with a heavy-duty metal chain.
In the evening of February 22, RCMP responded to a report of a possibly impaired driver near Munroe St.. In a press release RCMP say, members were then updated en route that two people had been assaulted by an unknown man with a heavy-duty metal chain. When members arrived on scene they located a victim who was bleeding profusely from his head. It was reported to police that the victim had observed a man and a woman causing a disturbance.
A bystander approached the pair to take a photo of their license plate which resulted in a physical altercation between the two women. One victim attempted to restrain the suspect who became aggressive. While the victim attempted to restrain the suspect the other suspect struck the victim several times with the chain.
A witness who captured the events on video was also struck with a chain. The injured victims were brought to the hospital by ambulance. Police then located and arrested the suspect for, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, failing to comply with probation order and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The suspect is being held in custody for a bail hearing.
