We’re speaking with Myia Antone, founder of a new non-profit organization based in Squamish on this program, a young woman who is helping break down barriers and increase participation and leadership opportunities for Indigenous Women in the outdoors.
Myia is currently a full-time student, but dedicates a lot of her free time to helping run various programs – part of her mission with Indigenous Women Outdoors to “hold space for Indigenous women to come together and feel safe on the land”.
From backcountry touring, to planned mountain biking programs, the organization is holding true to it’s goals.
In our interview, Myia will talk about why she decided to create Indigenous Women Outdoors and what she hopes to achieve with it in the future.
