George Manuel’s legacy goes far beyond his own life accomplishments, extending down to his children, who continue fighting for Indigenous rights today.
Doreen Manuel is one of George’s daughters, a filmmaker and writer, advocate and masterful storyteller. I hung on every word Doreen spoke during our interview, as she painted a vivid picture of the man her father was, the hard work he put into helping create the National Indian Brotherhood, and how he inspired others to come together to fight for Indigenous rights.
Doreen also talked about helping update two books centered around her father’s work to include the contributions the women made in his life.
In our interview, you’ll hear all about George Manuel, as well as these refreshed published works, From Brotherhood to Nationhood by Peter McFarlane and Doreen, as well as the Fourth World by George Manuel and Michael Poslun.
