Terrace city council has approved remediation work for the road on Lanfear Hill.
The gravel shoulder has been closed to pedestrians and cyclists since March 16th due to the deterioration. A geotechnical report was submitted during yesterday’s council meeting, outlining several options for remediation.
City council opted to go ahead with an option to shore up the gravel shoulder, while retaining the current road width. The remediation is only a temporary fix though, as those repairs will only have a five-year estimated life span. The projected cost of the work is approximately $360,000. This option will keep two-way traffic on the road, as well as re-open it to pedestrians and cyclists.
Work is expected to begin during the summer
