Vigils are being held across the nation to remember and grieve the 215 Indigenous children discovered in unmarked graves at the Kamloops Residential School last week.
Some of those found were as young as 3 years old – a gut-punching reality that many families have been suffering with without proper acknowledgement for generations.
Here in Terrace, community organizer from the Kitsumkalum Tsimshian Nation, Nicole Halbauer put together a memorial event along the Millenium Trail on Saturday, May 29th to allow those reeling from the news to grieve collectively.
On this show Nicole will talk about why it was important to her to hold the vigil, and what we can do as a society to ensure nothing like the atrocity of residential schools ever happens again.
