Recent heavy rain on a melting snow-pack has increased flows considerably overnight, especially in the Skeena River watershed.
The regional district of Kitimat-Stikine will be looking to declare a local state of emergency for area C to include parts of Old Remo, New Remo and Usk.
An evacuation order will also be sought for this area. The Regional District is also closely monitoring Dutch Valley, an area well known for flooding associated with high spring runoff.
Any residents requiring sandbags should stop by the Thornhill Volunteer Fire Department.
Individuals who have or maybe evacuated or have been forced out due to flooding need to report to the Thornhill Community Centre at 3091 Century street for registration and assistance.

Residents and businesses in low-lying areas and areas which have experienced flooding in the past should take steps to floodproof their structures, including moving valuable items to higher ground, finding alternate locations for livestock, and finding alternate accommodations should the need for evacuation occur.
