Better news finally for those displaced by the flooding in the regional district of Kitimat Stikine.
The Kalum and Skeena Rivers dropped significantly over the past few days and those evacuated from properties in New and Old Remo as well as Dutch Valley may now return home to assess the damage and begin the long process of rebuilding. Security will remain in place for another day to allow access only to property owners.
The RDKS has also cancelled the State of Local Emergency.
Over the coming days the RDKS will be addressing the issue of post-flood recovery.
Links to information for residents and businesses in areas that have experienced flooding are available on the Regional District’s website as well as on cfnrfm.ca
