This show is gearing us up for a big event happening this weekend, as the inaugural Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival Music Awards are set to go live with performances from talented musicians from all across Canada.
The award show, taking place on Saturday, is part of the bigger, 3 week-long Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival, which typically takes place in Ottawa June 1st to the 21st, culminating with a huge celebration for National Indigenous People’s Day.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, festival organizers opened up the opportunity for people all over the world to join in, with many streaming events available for free on their website.
To tell us all about this year’s activities and Music Awards, we’ve got Executive Director and Producer of the SSIF Trina Mather-Simard on this episode of Journeys.
