An Indigenous woman from northeast B.C named is taking the Northern Health Authority to court.
Naomi Bracken is accusing the Authority of medical negligence that resulted in the death of her 39-year-old son Joshua Benson back on Aug 31st 2020.
The Lawsuit, which Bracken filed on June 11th at the Terrace Supreme Court registry, comes four months after she reached out to provincial health minister Adrian Dix to address her grievance with the Kitimat General Hospital.
In her statement claim, Bracken accuses Northern Health of failing to treat her son appropriately after he went to the hospital complaining of chest pain. He died within 50 minutes after being discharged and after he spent over seven hours in the hospital.
The lawsuit however, does not make mention of any instance of race-related medical negligence.
