BC’s heatwave is triggering rapid thaws in the high snow pack which means the flood watch affecting the Chilcotin area has been upgraded to a flood warning by the BC River Forecast Centre.
The Waterways that the flood warning is referring to are the Chilcotin River, Taseko River, Chilko River, Big Creek and surrounding tributaries draining from the Chilcotin Mountains.
Members of the public are being advised to steer clear of the fast-flowing rivers and potentially unstable riverbanks during the high streamflow period.
And as of 11 a.m. today, the River Forecast Centre is also issuing to a High Streamflow Advisory for the Central Coast including the Bella Coola River and and Kliniklini River.
