More than 200 wildfires are burning across B-C — including more than two dozen new ones sparked in the last 24 hours — many as a lightning storm blew through the southern and central Interior.
One of those fires — northwest of Burns Lake around the Bulkley Lake region — has already burned more than two-and-a-half square kilometers of bush.
It has forced evacuation orders and alerts over an area that includes part of Highway 16 and C-N Rail’s main line — although Drive B-C is not reporting any travel disruptions.
The fire around Bulkley Lake remains out of control and is one of 15 — most in the Cariboo and Kamloops fire centres — ranked as potentially threatening or highly visible.
