Emergency Management B-C says it’s working to expand use of the Alert Ready warning system as the number of wildfire evacuations continues to increase.
The Canada-wide system allowing government officials to issue public safety alerts on T-V, radio and compatible wireless devices is already in place for tsunami threats and amber alerts.
Emergency Management executive director Pader Brach says expanding its use in B-C is a priority but he couldn’t say if it would be in place this wildfire season.
About 43-hundred properties are under evacuation orders as 287 wildfires remain active in the province, including 39 of note.
