The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure announced yesterday that a new ‘Get on Board’ program will allow children 12 and under to ride any Terrace BC Transit bus for free and it starts on September 1st.
As part of the provincial government’s effort to provide efficient, reliable, and affordable transit costs, the program is expected to save around $420 a year for families who purchase the kid’s monthly bus pass which cost $35.
More than 370,000 children under the age of 12 across BC can ride for free when the program gets launched in early Sept. just in time for the return to school.
Children who take rides on the BC Transit bus or use HandyDART unaccompanied will be able to do so, without needing identification or a fare product. Young children who are under five are required to be accompanied by a person who is at least 12 or older.
