In order to help deal with snow during the winter months, the Northwest Regional airport representing the Terrace-Kitimat area has received a brand new runway sweeper that appears to be very advanced.
This Sweeper cost just under a million dollars and is much larger than the airport’s current sweepers, as this new one is about 60 feet long.
The airport’s manager, Carman Hendry, stated that this new Sweeper is capable of doing work that would require two of the airport’s other sweepers.
As of right now, the airport has three other plow trucks and while the airport is planning on keeping them around for another year, they also might buy another unit of the new one they just got.
Hendry also made sure to note that the new machine has a life span of about 20 years and is capable of sweeping at 50 kilometres per hour.
