The Terrace RCMP is not launching an investigation into an August 20th fire that destroyed a location that was described by the Kitsumkalum First Nation as a camp for drug dealers and individuals going after young women.
This fire initially broke out at this camp on Kitsumkalum reserve lands close to the West Kalum Forest Service Road at 9:05 p.m. on August 20th not long after the First Nation had posted an eviction notice on their social media page while also noting that the RCMP would not do anything to make those individuals leave.
The Terrace fire department then went to put out this fire, which they called a major structural fire pretty close to the First Nation’s quarry.
Dave Jephson of the Terrace Search and Rescue team gave a statement saying that it took eight firefighters and two trucks a total of three hours to finally get the blaze under control.
He also added that no one was near the fire when it started and that there were no reported injuries.
