The city of Terrace has just hired a key official for three years and for a contract of $456,000 to hopefully solve the multitude of issues that the downtown area is currently dealing with, such as mental health, drug use, crime and just general public disorder.
The money for this official’s contract is going to be coming from multiple senior government grants amounting to $335,992 along with an extra $120,000 coming from LNG Canada.
The official in question, Linda Stevens already has at least three decades of experience working in various social development roles. Her most recent job in this type of role was when she worked for the school district in the Peace River area of Alberta. She will begin the job in Terrace on September 7th.
And with this job, she is expected to be making close contact with multiple non-profit groups, agencies and provincial government ministries.
