Earlier Today, the District of Kitimat raised an orange flag at the Kitimat Fire Hall in to give recognition that was dedicated to truth and reconciliation.
As it was directed through the District of Kitimat’s Council resolution, the flag is going to be up for all of September. And it will be lowered after National Truth and Reconciliation day.
September 30th of this year will be forever marked as Canada’s first ever National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day will also be a federal stat holiday that aims to make sure that both the tragic history and current ongoing legacy of residential schools will never be forgotten.
