Gitanyow Wilp Wii launching Indigenous Protected Area for salmon populations

The Gitanyow Wilp Wii Litsxw has launched an Indigenous Protected Area in order to protect salmon populations for Future Generations.

This took place on August 28 at Meziadin Falls where the Wilp Wii Litsxw announced the establishment of the Wilp Wii Litsxw Meziadin Indigenous Protected Area at an outdoor event that included approximately 200 guests.

This was supported by the seven Gitanyow Wilps and was witnessed by neighboring Gitxsan, Wet`suwet`en, Tsimshian and Nisga’a First Nations. The declaration was signed by the Chief and Wing Chiefs and Matriarchs to make the declaration official.
