BC`s first quarterly financial report of 2021 revealed more positive outcomes than expected.
Finance Minister Selina Robinson released the report today, revealing a projected year-end deficit of nearly half the previous prediction.
That prediction pins the provincial deficit at 4.8 billion dollars by year`s end, while also reporting a 6.2 billion dollar increase in revenue.
Although the numbers are better than expected, Robinson also says a large portion of earnings was countered by increased expenses.
She named the wildfires and pandemic related services as key contributors to those expenses.
More than 13 billion dollars have gone in to pandemic recovery and support programs so far.
The report also predicts BC`s GDP to continue to grow, by between 4 and 6 percent over the next two years.
