The Simon Fraser University has released a report on both the current value of and vulnerability of the Juvenile Salmon habitat located in the Skeena River.
The main point that report appears to want to make is how climate change and development are making a big impact on the region, as well as providing a historical assessment in order to make sure that the region’s future planning operators like the Skeena Fisheries Commission and the university itself are informed on how the habitat is doing.
Ciara Sharpe, the lead author of the report and a fisheries biologist who studied at the university, gave a statement saying that the Skeena River has been poorly studied despite how significant it is culturally, ecologically, and economically.
