Yesterday, BC`s Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Sheila Malcolmson, offered an update on the province`s plan to fight mental health and addictions issues.
Titled “A Pathway to Hope“, the plan 10 year-plan was launched in 2019.
Malcolmson says the plan has been wildly successful in its priority areas over the plan`s first two years.
A focus on Indigenous led solutions has led to 41 new First Nations-led mental health initiatives in over 160 communities.
According to the report, the initiative has also led to the creation of 11 new Foundry Youth Facilities, servicing more than 12,000 youth.
According to the Minister, more than half the plan`s initial items have been achieved, and a number of new initiatives have been added.
