Both Gasoline and Housing Prices in Canada, compared with the pandemic-related lows of 2020, have helped create an increase in the National Inflation rate from 3.7 percent in July to 4.1 in August.
Statistics Canada gave a statement saying that the increase was biggest year-to-year jump in inflation since March 2003, but they also mentioned that if they didn’t count gas prices, August’s rate would have been at 3.2 per cent.
BC’s cost of living also went up in August to 3.5 per cent, up four-tenths of a point from July’s rate. Inflation was also up in Victoria to 3.2 percent and Vancouver’s rate increased 2 basis points to 3.3 per cent last month.
