A new LNG project in Port Edward aims to bring a slew of new jobs to the region, following permit acquisitions this week.
Issued by the BC Oil and Gas Commission, the facilities permit allows Port Edward LNG to begin early prep work on their site.
A small scale operation, compared to others in the region, the plant will be located on Mount Stewart, east of Watson Island.
Significant work will need to be done to ready the mountain slope for the 22 acre facility, creating numerous jobs over the 2 plus year construction period.
Beyond that, the facility is expected to bring jobs to the area over the next 25 plus years.
Comprehensive environmental and community impact research has already been performed.
