With the Federal election coming up quickly, the President of the Native Women`s Association of Canada is urging Indigenous women to vote.
President Lorraine Whitman says she understands that some Native women do not want to vote to elect members of a colonizer government.
But she says that the Association has taken an alternate stance, saying that voting can help guide the Canadian Government in the direction they want.
She is calling for Indigenous women to vote with her on Monday to tell the government that they are no longer merely asking for consideration, they are voting for it.
