The government of BC has teamed up with Mitacs, the Information and Communications Technology Council and Crown agency Innovate B-C in order to put a combined total of 29-million dollars together so that they can create three thousand new jobs for people entering or re-entering the job market this year.
The government also sent out a statement saying that they asked over 20 organizations along with looking at hundreds of responses on business surveys and people who are in support of equity-seeking initiatives for their input, in order to determine how they should split up the funding.
BC’s Jobs Ministry sent out a statement of their own saying that the Innovator Skills Initiative is able to provide grants of up to 10 thousand dollars to BC companies that can equal the salary of new employees for 4 months.
The grants also allow for companies to open up as many as 10 new job openings.
The Jobs Ministry also mentioned that this program is aiming to help out people who have not been represented well in technology based industries as well as those who had been most affected by the pandemic.
