A delegation regarding a plan to assess and then reduce poverty in the Kitimat area was presented to the District of Kitimat council last night.
The main goal of this project is to collect data relevant to their 11 prioritized aspects of poverty, use that data to produce a complete assessment of Kitimat’s poverty situation and then take the steps necessary in order to make it so these issues are no longer issues for those less fortunate.
The project will be using a five step program in order to accumulate the data that they wish to find and as of right now, the people in charge of this project are on step one and they hope the data gathering will be done by August of next year.
The other parts of the delegation talked about things such as how the economy affected poverty, the impacts of poverty at different ages and even a personal story of family who struggled with making money.
More information on this delegation is available at the district of Kitimat’s website.
