Prince Rupert residents were among the first to catch a glance of the Royal Canadian Navy’s newest addition.
On Wednesday, the HMCS Harry DeWolf entered the waters near Prince Rupert to conduct some training.
Nearly 90 crew members were on board the vessel, which went through training exercises in navigation, docking, emergency steering, and more.
At nearly 340 feet long, the ship is powered by 4 generators and two diesel engines, and is designed for Arctic maneuvers in Canada’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
Construction of the vessel was ordered in 2016, it was launched in 2018, and commissioned this June.
The vessel will now make a two day stop in Vancouver, before heading to the Maritimes.
