Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has sent out a statement saying that he was not out on vacation yesterday in Tofino while the rest of Canada was paying tribute to all those affected by the residential School system for the first ever Truth and Reconciliation day.
The Itinerary of Trudeau said that he was a part of private meetings in Ottawa, but it was later revealed to that those meetings were in Tofino and Trudeau’s spokeswoman stated that Trudeau spent multiple hours in phone conversations with survivors of residential schools while he flew to meet his family in Tofino.
The Prime Minister’s office also said that Trudeau will still be doing work while in Tofino but a spokeswoman of Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole made an accusation that Trudeau was treating Truth and Reconciliation Day as if it were a holiday.
The Conservative spokeswoman went on to say that this action was a recognizable pattern of Trudeau’s but the Prime Minister’s Office responded by saying that they were hoping Mr. O’Toole made an effort to speak with residential school survivors yesterday.
