A number of Prince Rupert residents issued some strong opinions on a proposed 70-unit apartment complex during a public hearing last night.
Concerns ranged from potential issues such as parking, traffic, inconvenience of the proposed site location, and poor communication during the approval process.
While Council noted attendee’s complaints, they also acknowledged the need for housing in the community.
In order for the 22.5-metre-high project to continue, an amendment must be made to existing City bylaws.
Ultimately, Council agreed with the contents of the bylaw amendment, though it needs to come before Council at least one more time before getting final approval.
