The B-C Ministry of Health has announced some brand new ways that provincial residents suffering from cystic fibrosis will be able to gain access to a new medication, thanks to a new national health improvement network .
Earlier this week, the Cystic Fibrosis Care B-C network was able to be officially launched thanks to a partnership between the Provincial Health Services Authority and Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
Health Minister Adrian Dix sent out a statement saying that this network is the first of it’s type in Canada and that it will set BC up to be a top tier developer for a potential provincial cystic fibrosis care model that will make specialists easier to get access to for cystic fibrosis patients.
A recently conceived drug known as Trikafta is also going to receive coverage via the B-C Expensive Drugs for Rare Diseases process and this drug in particular has expectations to help around 400 people across BC.
