After it happened earlier in the year, BC emergency operators are once again having problems with both answering and processing emergency calls.
An E-Comms 9-1-1 spokesperson has given an explanation for the long emergency call wait period over Thanksgiving weekend, saying that the delays were because the calls were being transferred to BC’s Ambulance Service.
E-Comms also stated that whenever this kind of delay happens, people should stay on the phone line until they receive the help they need.
BC paramedics have starting speaking out about hospital staff shortages and employees suffering from burnout ever since June’s massive heatwave.
Back In July, Health Minister Adrian Dix sent out a statement saying that BC would start the process of adding more paramedics, dispatchers and ambulances.
