On tonight’s episode, I decided to share from Tuesday’s event the Gitxsan Child and Family Society’s Gala.
The Gala had three special guests, Mary Teegee with the Carrier Sekani Family Services society, as she is the executive director. Michael Sadler with BC housing, he’s the director of Indigenous relations and Cindy Blackstock, who’s the executive director of the First Nations Child And Family Caring Society Of Canada. She is also the professor for the school of First Nations Child & Family Caring Society at McGill University’s School of Social Work.
I was able to record two of their closing speeches from Cindy Blackstock and Mary Teegee. In the first segment, you will hear Mary, as she speaks with such passion and conviction.
Mary is ready for change to happen for our children and families. The goal is to keep her children in their respective nations. As we know, when we are disconnected from our culture, we tend to lose our way. And I was so moved by these two ladies. I just had to share with everyone.
